We’ve had our 2021 Jayco Eagle 28.5 RSTS since February. We’ve had several bumper pulls in the past so this auto level is new to us. We traveled successfully this summer with no issues for the most part. But im confused about the power source. We have been told by multiple people to always plug in to the pedestal before unhooking at each site. But we were told this weekend from an RV tech, that the full Lippert System runs off the 12v battery so booking up to shore power is pointless. (We do have solar, which I don’t know much about….newbie here and learning) I’ve tried to find out exact manual online but I see so many different versions and am still working to find the right one. In the meantime, anyone have any thoughts they’d like to share? Thanks in advance!

It will run off the rv being plugged into your truck with no other power source. I do hook up to shore power 1st though.

It is meant to run without shore power since you can boondock in the rv with only 12v.

The rv tech is partially correct as when you plug into the pedestal the 12v's is then supplied by the convertor not just the battery

It should run on battery alone. If not the batteries are not charge, are bad, or there is a fault somewhere. Most will hook up to shore power or leave it hooked up to the truck to ensure it functions in case the batteries are questionable, but It’s designed to work on RV battery power alone.

As you can tell, it will work from your tow vehicle, battery, shore power, solar power, or some or all of them.

AS everyone has stated it can run on or off shore power. I do tend to plug in to shore before extending the slides, I just feel it less strain on the system but that could just be nonsense.

I auto level as soon as I have disconnected from the truck and off the batteries.
