Just purchased a new 2024 Jayco Eagle 25RUC with lead acid batteries installed. Does anyone know if I install lithium batteries whether they will charge from my truck on the road without any modifications? The coach does have the switch for lead to lithium.
Thanks in advance
Rich

From most of the many threads I've read the past few months the truck will not generate high enough voltage to fully charge. But fully charging lead acid wasn't reasonable either.

I agree. The tow vehicle is not designed to charge lithium batteries however there are modifications to the tow vehicle that will.

Do you have solar? Solar could be your answer for charging the lithium batteries when not connected to a landline

There are chargers designed to work on the voltage your truck puts out and then boosting it safely to charge a lithium batteries. Many posts here, try DC to DC charger for lithium battery here and on google or Amazon.

Your built in charger will bring your lithium up to 80% and may get it higher over time. I have 200 watts of solar and a Renogy MPPT that keeps my battery filled up even off grid. Went to Great Sand Dunes NP last year and it snowed nightly with the LP furnace running and back to 100% every day!

I recently installed a lithium LiPOfe 1280ah heated battery on our 2023 26RU with Overlander 200 solar package. I set the converter switch to "Li" and set the BMPro electrical charge selection to lithium. I am questioning if I need to install an isolation converter for the tow vehicle. Some say don't bother, some say the alternator may be damaged. Tow vehicle is a 2019 Ford F250 Superduty. The solar panels will charge the battery fine, not worried about charging, just don't want to damage my truck. What is the real story.

I didn't. But I did pull the fuse so my truck don't try to charge it all. This also prevents my camper from trying to charge my truck when the truck is not running.
I also discovered that the supplied convert will not auto switch to lithium so I turned off the breaker to it as well.
I have 600w of solar charging 280Ah of lithium and I have not needed to turn either the truck or AC chargers back on. I started doing this as a test for boon docking but never needed to turn any of it back on. plus its a whole lot quieter than that dam factory charger built into the wall with its fan running. If I needed to do something to run off AC, I will just buy the lithium charger from victron.
