Low Point Drain Valve Mods?

We were leaving the campground this morning when we noticed water dripping from under the trailer. When I looked, I realized it was the the low point drain. I looked at the valve (which is under the bed), and realized that it was partly open. This appears to be a very flimsy valve which can be easily turned accidentally. Has anyone replaced it with something a little more reliable? If so, what did you use?

Mine are a push-pull style. The stem rotates freely but you have to push it into the valve body until it snaps. There is a little stainless steel wire clip that will snap around the shaft holding it closed.

Now you have me wondering if mine are push-pull. Which position is open (in or out)?

Usually, you pull-up on the T-handle to open the drain.

We had the push/pull valves and they had a slow drip from day one. Called jayco and they said to take it in for replacement. They replaced the valves with threaded caps. No problems since. One day, I will replace them with a regular valve. The fear is that I may lose one, or forget to put it back on. I probably should have done it myself.

:dunce: If any of you have a tall pointed hat (Dunce) available, I am prepared to wear it. They are push-pull valves, and the one connected to the fresh water tank was OPEN!

I panicked the first time I turned mine and they spun freely...took me a awhile calm down ;)

I cannot get mine to work on my Jay Feather SLX 16XRB. Very frustrating. It only has one, and it's an exterior type which according to the book only needs to be turned 45*. Mine does nothing.

When we were doing the demo, the dealer thought there was water in the tank and nothing came out for him either. I later found out that the water tank was 2/3 full!

And if you're wondering, I looked under both benches inside - where the tank is AND where the water heater is, and there are no additional valves in there that lead out here.

This drain should only be for the fresh water tank. The plumbing line low-point drains (Hot / Cold) should poke through underbarrier as (2) 1/2" (approximate) diameter pipes...My drain valves for these pipes are inside the camper directly above where they drain out the floor. (see picture above)

Good luck....

I'll take another look, but I am stumped.

That said, I am sanitizing my water system, and need to empty the freshwater tank. Nothing happens when I turn the valve.

On my TT - that exact valve swings 180 degrees open to closed and only drains the fresh water tank (from a tube out the bottom of the fresh water tank to that spigot). If your fresh water tank was filled, gravity pressure should cause it to drain. I cant imagine you have "vapor lock", but you might want to loosen the inlet cap and make sure the overflow vent is not blocked when opening fresh water tank low-point valve.

Usually low-point water line drains are installed just in front of the pump. I usually depressurize and open up all my spigots before popping the low-point water line drains.

I've tried both with and without pressure. I'll try to take some pics of the inside. It's **** confusing.

I'm having a hard time following the water flow from the images..... easy to make out the antifreeze siphon, water inlets, pump....

What I don't get are the two flexible lines that go under the floor....one appears to be the fresh water tank overflow.....the second comes off the inlet side of the pump

Wish I could help more....
