I started using a light bulb in a metal mount in my storage compartment for a little warmth in the tank area of my fifth wheel in cold weather. Yesterday, I remembered that I need a few bulbs for that purpose just before realizing that they are no longer available. All I can find are LED bulbs which put out very little heat. I have read of others using small heaters but I was wondering if there are any other ideas for adding a little heat to the storage compartment which is connected to the location of the tanks and plumbing?

I think you can still get heat bulbs. I thought I saw 100watt ones at Ace the other day.

I wrapped heat tapes (the same type used for keeping pipes warm) into old blankets and stuffed them into compartments. The pipes from the waste tanks to the hose connection also need extra protection in single digit temperatures - even if you have tank heaters. Camped many winter nights using that method with no freeze problems. Of course you need sufficient current to do that.

What was nice with the personal 200 watt heater is it also has the fan to move the heat further along. The base will allow you to use a couple short screws in an L bracket to hold it steady.

I do the same thing. Changing from a light bulb toa reptile style heater, there is an output difference. Using a 60 watt bulb, then going to. 60 watt reptile heater lost about 20 degrees. Going to 100 watt made it about the same as the 60. I also located a GE branded one at Ace, which has an indicator light on it, however I installed a remote temperature monitor in the compartment, and a reader within range. You mentioned a metal base, I’m using a porcelain which I attached to the floor and leave in, only removing the heater in the spring.

My Redhawk has adhesive heating pads on each tank. Have you looked into those?

Haven't considered adhesive heating strips. Our rig has ac

Our fifth wheel has access to only the sensors without a load of grief getting to the rest of the tank. We rarely need them but when we do it requires a little prep.

Thanks for the reply!
