Marinco detachable power cord modification

At the risk of revealing my idiocy, what is a "progressive hard-wired EMS"? as posted by SparkDr.

I too noticed the SmartPlug receptacle mount not being a direct replacement for RV's, although I can make an aluminum or stainless adapter. It is interesting that SmartPlug delineates marine and rv products but the part numbers appear to be the same for either product line. Also for their "RV" line a 90 degree plug on the coach end would be advantageous along with a revised mount or adapter plate. I no nothing about fires associated with twist-lock plugs but if their design fixes or reduces the risk, kudos to them.

Progressive (actually Progressive Industries Inc.) is a brand name.
EMS is an Electrical Management System.
Hard-wired refers to the EMS installation method: hard-wired means the EMS permanently installed and connected to the RV wiring as opposed to the plug-in type EMS.

what type of EMS did you use ? Does this have a surge protector ? Or am I talking about the same thing.

The EMS is a surge protector and much more. A surge protector does just that, protects against a surge in power. An EMS both protects against power surges, and brown outs (or drops in power). If power drops below a certain level, motors in things like the AC can be permanently damaged. EMS also protects against things like open ground in the power pedestal.

I use the Progressive Industries EMS 30A which is a portable one. The biggest draw back to a portable one is it can grow legs and walk off. You can get the same unit but hard wired inside your TT. This one can't grow legs.
