Mattress Exchange and Under Bed Storage Access

We ended up getting a hybrid mattress (spring/memory foam). Way better than the stock mattress. We also cut down the king size plywood to a queen. Every inch counts (that’s what she said ). Anyway the struts open okay but do not stay open on their own. We took a shower rod and use it to brace the bed when raised if we need it open.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the mattress that came with the Pinnacle.

We thought about the same thing when we ordered a memory foam from Amazon, so I added a mattress bag to the order. Put the old one in it, sealed it up and tucked it away. If we ever find another TT we like better than what we have, the old Denver's going back in it when it gets traded.

Pillowtop

My 2005 Eagle 298BHS came with a pillowtop mattress. It’s excellent. We’re looking at new TT’s now. That mattress will be coming with me!

Jayco mattress sucks!

I bought a 2020 317RLOK 5th Wheel and after sleeping on the mattress that came with this unit for a couple of months I could hardly walk. When it injured my back I went out the same day and bought a new mattress. I'm still not a happy camper but at least I'm not hurting anymore. Problem with finding a new mattress is I that have a queen size and there's 4 inch wide shelf on each side of the mattress with a 8 inch height. Trying to find a queen size mattress 8 inches in height is almost impossible. Might just have to overlook the height difference and find something I'm happy with. Had a Forest River TT before this one which had a Sealy queen size short which I sleep on 3-4 months a year for 5 years and never had a complaint. I would think Jayco could come up with something better than what they have now.

Roadrunner II,
Can you post or send me pictures of how you did it?
King size are too big. No room to walk.

Mattress

When we got our 38FLSA Pinnacle, it came with a King Denver mattress memory foam. Within 3 months it was shot. Just like lying on the plywood. Contacted Jayco and they wanted pictures. They offered another just like the original but we said no thanks. Gave us $400.00 towards a new one. I saw an ad on the internet for an outfit called 1-800-Mattress and bought a new Simmons Beauty-rest King with 1090 coils for $499.00 including shipping. It made the bed too heavy for the shocks so I looked up the name on the shocks and ordered heavy duty ones. It cured the problem so we were happy. Came with a 12 year warranty. Made the space in the bedroom a little tighter as the new one was 76X80 vs. 72X80 for the original.

We got the Sealy Cocoon last Friday and let it steep for a few days to get the odor out, which worked. We have not slept on it yet but it does feel good. The lift mechanism works just as well as it did with the lighter weight Serta it came with. Lifting it is no problem and it locks in place. I think being a queen size with its lighter weight is a factor.

We have a resale store operated for and by challenged teens that was more than happy to take the old one. Even though we didn't like it it could be way better than what some folks have.

Mattress Pad

Hi,
We’ve had no problems with lifting ours. Just makes it higher for the dog to jump up and down!

We have a 2019 Pinnacle 36FBTS and it has eitgrt yhe Serta or Sealey mattress. It's a firm mattress but we find it quite comfortable to sleep on. Or maybe just being out in the 5er is what makes it comfortable.

We bought our cuckoo mattress, king size, February 2018 for our home. When we sold our home we put that mattress in our pinnacle. It’s very comfortable. However, if king-size is not important I would definitely go with queen.

We put a 3" memory foam topper on ours and it made a world of difference.
We replaced the mattress in our Eagle HTX with a sleep number. They even make a short or RV Queen if you need it. There was space under the edge of the platform near the head for the compressor. It is just as comfortable as our sleep number at home. Camping World had the best price.
