Maxair covers

Yes they are worth it. You can keep your vents open when it rains. They also protect your vent covers from sunlight and maybe hail. Your original vent covers will last longer.

The keep the vent area cooler inside when direct sun is on the vent
We have a vent in our bedroom, with a black vent cover it keeps the early morning sunlight out of the bedroom.
Plus as other have stated it allows usage during rain.

They are nice to have and serve a purpose as stated above. They do not stop 100% of rain water though. I had my vent open last year in a heavy rain storm and very strong winds and you could feel a mist of water while standing under the vent. That is the time that happened and was what i considered Extreme conditions. Hope this helps.

I would like to get one that allows the vent to open all the way. One of the vents on mine is motorized so don't want bind the motor. Which one should I get?

I talked to Fantastic vent and they said that if the lid hits something it will stop, and do no harm.

My Fantastic fans came with a warning that they impede air flow on power vents.. but I still think they are great.. I can leave my vents open all year for fresh air flow..

I leave mine open a bit when it is sitting for the winter, covered in snow. Never had any problems.

+1 on all above reasons. Open in any conditions and while traveling to keep the air flowing.

SIL had not installed one yet as I kept telling them to do so and one night while we were out a few weeks back it poured. Husband looked at me and said OH Crap! I just smiled and said I told you it would happen. Sure enough they spent an hour with some towels soaking up the rain water that was all over the inside of their unit when we got back. Hard lessons are sometimes the ones people need to listen. Needless to say there was one installed upon arrival home.

There are a few options out there varrying in price and all will do the same job so buy what suits your budget. I have had the Maxx airII's on all my units and they perform well. Easy to install and clean.
