reciently ordered new jayco 5th wheel and wondered what experience owners have had with mouse invasions during winter storage.
our current 5er is a keystone product and apparently has an open invite to homeless mice to camp all winter. We have tried dryer sheets and those electronic devices with only limited success.
Past units from popup, trailers ,to class A have never had this problem I assume they were sealed better around slides and utility lines.
Just wondered how well jayco addressed this problem. Do any of you have mice using your trailer for winter residence?
I don't really hate mice I just wish they were better house keepers , I have to keep cleaning up after them. The maid refuses to do it.

I'm on our 2nd winter with our Jayco 5ver and have not experienced mice invaders. We use a storage lot on the outskirts of the urban area so there could be mice. However, I have observed cats in the area. I don't know if they are free ranging or not, but they could be a very good deterrent.

We have owned one Jayco pop up camper and three Jayco travel trailers and have had no problems with mice even though we have stored our trailers at a storage facility that is not paved.

We've always parked our trailers on the cement slab on the side of the house. We are fortunate not to have any mice take up residence during storage.

Iv'e never had that problem either and I store our 5er in an outside storage facility in Southern Missouri. I had a boat several years ago and was told to put moth balls in it during the winter for mice protection. Frankly I would rather clean up after the mice as long as they aren't destroying anything. Moth balls stink and the odor would probably hang around for the entire camping season. Try using De-con unless you don't want to harm them.

Mice WILL destroy things. They love to tear up kitchen towels to make nest with them. They will chew into food containers to eat your stored food. They also stink. We had an infestation of them last year. With traps set with peanut butter, we were able to get all of them.
Mice could also build their nest near a source of ignition and potentially set your RV on fire. No thanks, I will do all I can to keep them out, or get rid off them when they do get in.

This is our 3rd winter for our Jayco Jayflight stored in the backyard. We use an entire box of dryer sheets spread out EVERYWHERE in the trailer, cabinets, outside storage bins and inside Fridge/Freezer. We also leave ALL doors, drawers and cabinets open. They tend to stay in dark places, so with all doors and cabinets open, there are very few places to find that are dark during the day.
We also place those little pellets of Decon inside all of the outside storage bins.
There is another trick, but I have not verified if it works. Perhaps you could try it and let us know if it does work.
Take pieces of dry sponge dipped into chicken broth or beef juices and set them around the perimeter of your foundation on the outside. Keep the traps inside for a while to get the ones already inside, but the ones that eat the sponges die from the sponge expanding in their tiny intestinal tracts.

I realize dead mice stink, and I as well would do everything possible to keep them out, except for using mothballs. I was simply replying to the question. Didn't sound like "haul n it all" was having a problem with the mice destroying anything yet, and it also didn't sound like he was totally interested in murdering them.
