Hi all!

I recently purchased a 1993 Jayco Eagle 265BH to renovate for the family to enjoy. I’ve done this twice before but this one seems to be my problem child. What I didn’t know was that at some point there was a major mouse issue. I started gutting it and it looks like they came in through the furnace (that was under the pull out couch) chewed it up used it as their bathroom etc. currently in the process of disassembling, sanitizing, and rebuilding that. Made their way under the sink where they chewed up some electrical wires and also used the charge converter as their Bathroom as well. I just ordered a new one on Amazon and am in the process of cleaning up the wires. I still have to work on cleaning out the ducts. I have both floor and ceiling ducts. I’m replacing the ac with a brand new system. I plan to take a dryer vent cleaner through the ducts and drag a rag with a bleach water solution through them. And finally run a small ozone generator in there when all is said and done, before painting and what not.

Anyway. Under neath I noticed they chewed a hole through the black underbelly sheathing. At this point I’m thinking of just pulling it down and going through everything and probably replacing the insulation. If they made a mess under the camper the way they did inside I’d rather not take any chances. My question is I’ve seen several videos where they seem to have brackets they just unscrew and the black underbelly sheathing just drops down. However it looks like on this model there really aren’t brackets but rather it’s tucked under the aluminum siding. Has anyone ever done this in their camper ? Any tips or tricks or suggestions ?

Aside from the mice issue, this camper is in decent shape and has held up well considering its age. I’ve done 2 other jaycos and really haven’t had any bad experiences with them.

I would like to hear suggestions regarding removal of the underbelly sheathing too. I do like the mice deterrent product link- have not seen that product before. Since we park and store our trailer on concrete, that might be the ticket to keep mice from being able to climb up and in.
