I added this for more storage and to carry a generator.

Looks kind of scary. How did you tie it into the frame? Also, it looks like you have additional space for more stuff back there, and a hitch receiver for even more weight (!!!). What happens to your tongue weight when you have it fully loaded?

It's a neat idea, and looks pretty sturdy. I would suggest moving the lights and plate to the new "bumper". They look like they are obscured by the deck which I think can cause issues in some states.

I'm looking at doing something similar on mine. I really want it for things that will stay packed but don't want to leave in the camper like chairs and maybe a portable shade. When I did the flooring on mine I added about 50lbs to the front. I decided I didn't want the aluminum support to bend again so I used a piece of 4" angle as support and a few other odds and ends.

It is bolted to the "C" shape of the frame (of trailer) with five 5/16 fine thread grade 8 bolts. The frame is 2x4 1/8 steel tube. Cross braces are 2x2 1/8 steel tube. The hitch is for bicycle rack only. Have not checked tongue weight. It was pulled several hundred miles and no problems. However I did not have the generator loaded. I plan on checking tongue weight when warm weather arrives.
