I am looking to see if I can change up the Murphy bed arrangement. One option is to swap the 6” mattress with a thicker one, say 8 or 10”. However in order to accommodate the added thickness plan is to get a mattress with a fold about 12” from the head. So, when the bed is stowed the 12” fold will flip toward the foot and the whole mattress ( now 12” shorter) would slide toward the exterior wall and allow the mechanism to close with out hitting the overhead cabinet.
Might add a strap from side to side to keep it more secure when traveling.
Anyone done something like this, or other method to get a thicker mattress?
