New 2012 Jayco Flight 32BHDS

Hey everyone! We just finished the papers on getting a new TT. After search for a little over a year, we decided on the Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS!! Our current TT is a 1976 Golden Falcon. I hate to leave our vintage, but with 2 boys and 2 dogs, we needed some room.

The dealer is going to "store" the TT for a few months until we are ready for camping here in Michigan (yes, I know, it was 55 degrees here yesterday). Currently we have a reese straight bar WDH. We need a sway bar and was looking at the Reese 66078 which looks like has wdh and sway in one setup. Thought? Idea? Comments?

We're very excited to do a lot more camping this year!!!!

Welcome to the forum emtjason! I see the hitch 66078 has 1200 lb round bars. You may want to check out this thread about someone with the same trailer who started with 1200 lb trunnion bars, but went to 1500 lb bars because of the high tongue weight of his 32BHDS
I think you are on the right track with the Dual cam sway control, just might need more hitch for your trailer. Cheaper to get it right now then later. Enjoy your new Jayco!

..... and since you asked about the WDH;

I echo "Crabman's" comment on the rating of the WDH. The 32BHDS, depending on your loading habits, can be a heavy TT considering it has a GVWR of 10,200lbs and is 36ft long (lots of places to store things). The UVW of 7,675lbs is not the ship weight, figure about 7,920lbs for a ship weight (but always think in terms of "loaded" weights).

It is recommended that the loaded tongue weight of a 36ft long TT be 13% to 15% of it's loaded weight:

Worst case loaded 32BHDS scenario: 13% to 15% of 10,200lbs = 1,326lbs to 1,530lbs tongue weight.

Moderate loading for family of four 32BHDS scenario: 13% to 15% of 9,000lbs = 1,170lbs to 1,350lbs tongue weight.

IMO, a 1,200lb rated WDH would be to light even under a "moderate" loaded condition. If it were my TT, I would be looking at a Reese HP Dual Cam brand WDH or Equal-i-zer brand WDH in a 1,500lb rating minimum (both have integrated sway control).

If your thinking of the Reese WDH product, go with the trunnion style spring bar (in lieu of round bar) since the 32BHDS has it's hitch ball coupler welded to the bottom of the TT A-frame.

Also, check the WD weight limit specifications of your TV's OEM receiver against the possible loaded weights of the 32BHDS.

So...we've just picked up the TT from the dealer! We're so excited. I have a feeling that our oldest son (10) is going to want to camp-out tonight. Its a beautiful 77 here in Southeest Michign today, so should be a fun night.

It does pull a little different than our old 1976 Golden Falcon (25ft) but not too bad.
I'll get some pics and post them soon.
