I wanted to let you know about a big improvement to the site that will be introduced next week - a Proper classifieds page.
Currently we have a forum area for classifieds and there is no charge to place ads but the interface is a little hard to use. it's even tougher for folks searching to purchase something.
Next week you will see a new link at the top of the forum to "classifieds" and when you click there will be a non-forum looking page. Member ads will be displayed there and it should be a much better interface. There will also be sorting and editing tools. It will still be FREE.
We are also introducing two factor authentication on accounts for those placing ads (verification via sms) to discourage possible scammers. When you place an ad you will be asked to verify your account and while we know this is a little headache it will help keep everyone secure.
The front page of the Classifieds page will feature an interactive map with pins displaying the approximate location of items for sale.
When the new page goes live we will close the existing classifieds forum. Posts will still be visible for a time but no new posts will be accepted. If you have an item for sale, you are welcome to reload the ad on the new classifieds page.
