Used to have a 2016 Ram 1500 but just bought a 2018 2500. Only towed once with it so far but it was great. Towing a 267BHS

Never, ever thought I would own a MOPAR! I loved my 2014 Ecoboost, but knew we needed more truck. Been working the Big 3 for a few months and finally pulled the trigger on the Ram. Ford and Chevy just couldn’t come close to the number so I figured what the heck. Still putting some miles on her before towing, but hoping it’s going to be a better trip.

Nice looking truck! A truck is the only MOPAR I would even consider! My 2009 Ford F450 just hit 140,000 miles this week. I hope there are many more miles before I bite the bullet and by another TV!

Thanks ET! Wanna trade??? Ha. So far so good. My TT GVWR is 7500 so this truck should do fine. The Ecoboost was amazing out here at elevation. This regular gasser feels like a dog compared to it, but the empty ride is awesome. Seriously better than the Max Tow F150. I think I’ll be happy and I will definitely give a realistic, unbiased 1/2 compared to 3/4 towing review.

Nice rig. Although I wouldn’t buy a Ram myself, I appreciate the design. Can you dispel the notion that an Ecoboost somehow is equivalent to a heavy duty?

2014 Ram Laramie 3500 Dually 4x4, Cummins HO, tow package. Minor overkill pulling our new Hummingbird 17MBS (Lol!) but we pull a host of trailers with it!

Yeah, no doubt I can dispel the Ecoboost compares to the heavy duty truck. Like I said, I loved my Ecoboost. It was an awesome truck and the toque and horsepower was amazing. I live at 6,400 feet and we always camp higher. The direct injection crushed this naturally aspirated 6.4 Hemi. The Ecoboost could flat out pull. We came over Monarch Pass yesterday. This Hemi was screaming at 35mph, but we eventually made it to the top. The Ecoboost always had more in the pedal if I needed it.

But........the 1/2 ton doesn’t compare to the 3/4 ton. The stability of the 3/4 ton makes it enjoyable to drive. With the 1/2 ton I always had two hands on the wheel. The trailer weighed more than the truck and i felt everything. Now I can relax and just drive like normal. I was always on the edge with the 1/2 ton. I always knew my numbers and loaded properly to make sure my set up was just right. I always wanted to be legal and this 30’ trailer took it to the limit.

To each his own and I’m not the weight police, but now that I’ve done both I would never go back to a 1/2 ton for towing a significant trailer. Just look underneath the truck and it’s easy to see how much more truck you get. Everything is beefier and made to do this job. I know guys towing longer and heavier trailers with 1/2 tons that say it is a great set up and pulls like a dream. I guess perception is reality because there is no comparison. Stay safe!

2009 Dodge Laramie Quad Cab Dually.... 37,000 miles (truly). Originally set it up to haul a very heavy Artic Fox 1140 camper. Rancho adjustable shocks, Hellwig sway bar, Timbren overloads and Firestone airbags. Tows our new Pinnacle 5th wheel like a dream. Level I get 7 1/4” over bedrails at 13’ 5 1/2” over all height using a Reese M5 hitch in the middle setting. Nearly bought a new 450 but seeing the potential height challenges on newer units glad I haven’t yet.

'15 Ram 4x4 3500 DRW max tow 6.7 HO Aisan 39000lb custom flat bed Rease 30000lb hitch 7500lb airbags. Drags my '18 Seismic 4116 at 20880lb great.

Bummer the poll only let me vote for one. I got 2 trucks.
2015 Silverado 3500 DRW crew that's bone stock but has a AAM finned rear diff cover, double deep Mag Hytec trans pan and an AmsOil remote dual oil filter bypass system.
My other truck is a 99 Ram 2500 Cummins that's anything but stock. Full billet competition transmission, stock bore size block and pistons, balanced and blue printed rotating assembly, full modified girdle and studded bottom end, ported and fireringed head, thermal coated pistons, valves and head, studded top end, 188/220 camshaft, ceramic coated compound twin turbos, etc... it's right up around 1000hp. Truck is still in "restoration".
So I voted GM 3500 DRW..
