I'm a retired former professional musician from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Joined to get updates and advice from experienced RV users. We purchased a used 2004 Jayco Eagle 312 FKS on October 1st 2022. Currently have it sitting permanently on our 5 acres in Wisconsin. We do not have a tow vehicle big enough to handle it. We had it delivered.
It is our special happy place to be, it is a joy to be there. It is raw land, we've installed a driveway and electric so far. The goal is to place a cabin there in the future. Until then, we enjoy drawing water from an artisian well nearby, showering in a homemade outdoor shower house made from used deck wood, and enjoying making trails around the property.
Saving up for a well and sewer, at this time we use a porta potty and gas station dumping site. I know we could use our RV's water and black tanks, but at this time we have no rolling black/grey water disposal tank. This is on the wish list too.
Does anyone have an issue where when it rains, the outdoor porch light (the big round one to the right of the main entry door) fills with water and slowly drains? Also when it rains hard, the kitchen window and slideout windows fill with water. We can't find the leak. We also have a gas line leak after replacing old rubber hoses with new ones! Thinking braided lines or new gas bottles would be our next step.

Any advice, any comment would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have a great "Happy Place" and

Welcome Aboard. Cannot help directly. I suspect your window issue is related to two things. Check the bottom guides, there should we weep holes to allow the condensation to escape. As for water leaking in, I suspect the felt seal maybe going bad. Most RV windows can pop out by opening the slider window and lifting it up. Then the fixed window can be removed the same way.

Good Luck.

Thank you Jagiven, we will definitely check out the window pop out this spring! Never knew that. Awesome

Welcome. I would second the weep holes but would also recommend you get up on the roof and slowly check all the Dicor (the caulk put around any where water could leak in. If the caulk is cracked, lifts up from the roof rubber or has pulled away from anything you must get it sealed up.

Read up on Dicor, Etearnabond tape and other options. DO NOT use silicone on your RV! Lots of knowledge here. Post pictures and make, model and problem with any appliance.

And have a great time!

Wow I’m so excited to be here because of all the expertise you all have. Great. We’ve been up on the roof, did find some things- but will be back this spring and I will definitely be asking questions of this awesome forum!

Yes there are! If you’re in the area please let us know! We’ll be spending some of the summer and most weekends there!
Thanks!

Hi ! And thank you so much! I spent time as a child in Buffalo where my dad (rip) grew up. So I know the beauty of NY state!

Hi Grumpy! And yes it is a slice of heaven on earth. So quiet compared to the Twin Cities hustle and bustle. We’re on a private road so we don’t hear any cars, either. We’ve just met some of the other landowners this year and are poised to have a get together with food and fun soon.
