We also have a 17RK we've had our since June 16th we love it. Yes we had some quality issues, but their fixed.

I'm shopping now. I like the rear kitchen model. I've been comparing to R-pods and the Hummingbird's seem better all the way around. The new R-pods have some features to catch up to the HB. (Awning, door window, etc.). The quality of Jayco seems better. I'm curious what issues you have had?

Very minor. We were able to resolve ourselves.

also be careful with the HDMI cable folding the TV back into it's storage position can break the end of the cable off, replacing cable takes some time. You have to take apart the closet.

Ok it lost my letter on the last posts so here it is again: Problems:
Water heater didn't work on propane, wired wrong (I fixed)
LED running light (driver side) resister was broken because it was connected the blue wire of the side control EXT and not the blue running light wire. The installed pulled the wire to get it close enough to connect. (I fixed with new part)
Grey water discharge pipe was loose and leaking (dealer fixed)
Sway Command didn't work (dealer removed)
Bathroom door would bind when closed (dealer fixed)
Bed felt like you were sleeping in a hole, found out the 3/8" plywood was flexing the braces were only screwed to it and the screws puled though. I fixed it by adding a 3/4" plywood then glued and screwed it now it's solid
The panel below the fridge would hit the side of the dinnet and the floor when moving inwards, I trimmed the side and bottom off in my table saw and remounted.
Wires behind the panel would get dragged when the slide as brought inwards, so I tie wrapped them together. Watch the gas line and fridge electrical these need to move.

Great Choice!! we looked at R-Pod's for three years, fell in love with the Hummingbird at first sight.


Long term I wanted to install (2) 6 volt GC-145 deep cycle batteries, but they will not fit on the battery rack, about 2 inches short. I could make a rack but it will just add more weight (load capacity is in short supply - 640# for everything in our 17RK. (2) GC-145 are 140 lbs., the group 27 battery is half if that. I'm going to look for deep cycle battery in a 12 volt (the marine group 27 supplied isn't a truly deep cycle battery in the same since).

We felt the same way about R-pods... Did the exact same as you when we saw a Hummingbird! So happy!
