Hello everyone,

Just took delivery of our new Jayco J Series 1006 on Thursday. Had it out this weekend and it was great. I do have a few questions, and get a vague answer from the dealer.

I was concerned that this model did not come with a manual crank. If my camper battery dies, will it pop up and down if I hook up to the TV and start the engine?

We usually dry camp, so a battery is all new. Do I have to keep the PUP plugged in in the garage all the time during the camping season? Battery is a Deep Cycle Interstate SRM 24 550.

Finally, anyone know how many Amps the Lippert Lift system uses?

I know I will have a lot more questions, but this is a good start :Canada:

Hey Robandcurtis - welcome to the forum! Glad you found us.

Do you have a 7 pin connector on that camper? If so, it probably will power it off the vehicle - you just have to make sure it is enabled in your vehicle by installing the proper fuse. (if you have a 7 pin then we can go from there).

Your best bet is to get a small battery tender and keep it hooked up to the camper battery. If you don't have to remove the battery from the camper and can get a cord to it, even easier. Keeping the battery charged like that will significantly prolong the life of it.

Thanks, Terry.

Yes, 7 pin. I have already confirmed that the TV is set up to charge the battery, so my only concern is that if the Camper battery totally died I would not be stuck in the woods with no way to pop down :)

If you have confirmed that the 7 pin is charging the battery then you should be able to run the vehicle and charge the battery up enough to pop down. I also carry one of those small jump packs with me - it has a 20ah battery and can work in a pinch.

Just a word of caution, something to look for.....
Although the charger says it will maintain the battery for a long period, I would suggest checking the fluid level in the battery from time to time. The charging process tends to boil off the fluid a bit, and if the battery plates become exposed in the process, it will kill the battery. Once you have confidence in how the charger performs, you can adjust your checking period.
