Hi All!
We purchased a 2015 28BHBE about a month ago. It was a private sale. Previous owner was a great guy and took immaculate care of it.
Took it camping last weekend to give'er a go before we winterized her. Everything about it was fantastic, still smells new inside.
We dropped it off at our storage place that does repairs as well. They winterized her and called to tell us they found two small holes on the roof. Suggested replacing the roof based on where they were located. Asked immediately if it was insured and suggested we put in a claim as the new roof will be around 5K.
Went up on the roof to take a look myself and it is almost laughable. The two "holes" and so small I could barely find them.
So, what I need to know is, why can't we just fix this problem with eternabond? Am I missing something? There is no visible damage anywhere inside the camper. Is this guy just trying to make a buck off us? Sure feels like it. Any advice is much appreciated!

Eternabond will work fine for those holes. That one near the edge may take some effort to get it applied correctly. But, it can be done.

I may take your RV someplace else, they are trying to rip you off. That type of "damage" is not unusual, it's why your suppose to inspect the roof at least twice a year. Eternabond tape will work fine. Also while doing the repair check all the dicor to make sure none of it has cracked.

Good Luck.

Please post the location of that "repair" guy. You don't need to post the name, but the location may let people know. Have you asked the guy about dicor or eternabond? I am curious what he would say. If he thinks you don't know anything, he may be trying to scam you (and others). I would almost want to let him try and do insurance fraud just to catch him in the act and stop him from doing this in the future (or present).

And I second finding another place to store or have any work done on the RV. Seriously, $5K to replace a roof based on having two small "holes". Incredible!

First, eternabond will seal those tiny holes no problem.
Second, I’d store the rig somewhere else. I think they’re trying to scam you.

Ya..he is fishing for some work. Ask about patching instead of replacing. If he insists on replacing, run.
Cheers

Wow. Just wow.

I'd like to say this is "unbelievable", but unfortunately it's not.

As has been WELL covered here, you DO NOT need a new roof :)facepalm:)

But I would go a bit further and apply Eternabond along the entire edge, along the front and rear seams, and over the existing Dicor seals on the other openings.

It's something I intended to do to my trailer while I owned it, and will do on my motorhome at some point in the near future. "Rustic Eagle" here on the forum has done it at least once IIRC and there are a couple others who have done similar to varying degrees.

You're up there working on it anyway, may as well make as many seals up there "permanent" and "maintenance free" as you can.

Thanks! We went up and took a look ourselves. I don't even think it's a hole!!! It looks like a minor scratch.
I'm going to seal both front and rear seams with eternabond and possibly along both sides:)

You can seal them with Dicor self leveling sealant or Eterna Bond. But first check carefully for soft spots around the holes. If it feels soft compared to the rest of the roof water damage has occurred, and you will have to do additional repair.

I have a hole that was made by a critter that's 3 times the size of the dime. Temporarily I sealed it with clear caulking that I had on hand. That was over a year ago. Circumstances being what they are I haven't been able to put Eternabond on it. No way am I going to replace the entire roof for that.

Holes

$5000.00 is way too cheap for a new roof - probably closer to $10000.00
A patch will last the life of the TT Les

Size of RV will dictate price for a roof repair. I had a 34 ft MH with a bad roof and water damage inside. Insurance claim was $18000.
