Howdy Ya'll,

Rick here. Just picked up our new 286BHSW Jay Flight. The buying process was crappy... them salesmen are out to kill ya for sure BUT after all the bull crap I feel we got a fair deal, not because they gave it to us but because we fought for it.

Any who, Glad to be here and hope to learn from the group and hope to help out also.

First question, where can I find out what generator I can buy to run my 15k BTU AC. I tried to search but no luck.

thank you

Welcome to Jayco Owner's Forum from New Hampshire.
Where are you planning to camp with your new Jayco?

If you're looking for a generator that can provide 30amps power, here is the formula: 12 Volts × 30 Amps = 360 watt generator.

Most folks suggest an 'inverter generator' and if possible, one that already has a RV 30amp plug on it. I've seen some that run off propane and/or gasoline. Some folks have just picked up a lithium battery backup in lieu of a generator because their real-world needs was only for a hour or two, not long enough to need a dedicated generator.

It's not easy to suggest what you need but you might consider getting a smart shunt battery monitor for your camper which can show you how many watts your using at the moment, how many you need per hour and how long you can go with the battery (or batteries) you have now.

Oh, I've learned a 'soft-start' circuit board is very handy when you need to start up an air conditioner on a generator.
