We just brought home our first travel trailer on Tuesday and we can't wait to go on our first adventure! Rain, rain go away! Anyway, we have been tinkering with it in the driveway and it looks like we can camp in it next weekend. I am nervous about getting all the hookups right. Anybody have any tips for a smooth setup?? Our tow vehicle is a Ford Expedition. Thanks for your help!

Congratulations! Key is to take your time, and think three steps ahead. When hooking up check under the trailer to ensure nothing is under it. We bent a camp stove 20 years ago, we still use it, it is a friendly reminder. If someone helps hook the TV and htt I double check the connection points.

When back in, this is where thinking ahead will really help. When getting to the camp site, get out look over the site, talk about where you want it, look at your turning radius, figure out how far to pull forwards before starting to backup. Most people do not pull forwards enough, before backing in.

Once you are in your spot, check your level side to side, adjust as needed with blocking, then chock the wheels. Unhitch, level front to back don't use the nose wheel. Put the stabilizers down, ideally on blocking, then open the slide and awning. Next morning tighten up the stabilizers.

Tip to make your beds if using sheets, unzip the emergency exit windows, have one person outside helping and one inside. Beds are made really quickly and they are not frustrating too do.

Congratulations and welcome! As others have said, take your time and think ahead. Checklists are also your best friend.

Congrats on your TT. My advice to ever one is "GOAL" which means Get Out And Look". I dove a truck for 10 years (till I was deployed) and my wife still gets out and watches me back in. Don't let it brother you when other camper see her helping you back in. Also after you get hooked up and before you pull out have some one (with us this means me) do a walk around to check the antenna, water hose, electric cord, cable, step, and other camping gear is where it is should to be.

All good advise! Our 1st was the X23B which we pulled with our '03 Expe. We put about 8k mi on it in the 2 yr we owned it and loved every trip. We loved it but knew we wanted something larger from the get-go. Watch your weights as we were close to the Rear GAWR with just the two of us. You'll figure out your routine after a couple of trips and it'll feel like a second home. There's lots of X23B owners here and they all love their TT's like we did.
My $0.02, pick your fuel/ lunch stops carefully - pick your exit before entering, Learn your systems (electrical, water and sewer). Post your adventures and successes and keep posting your questions.
