It's great to be a part of this forum. I've owned my 31 BHDS Jayco since Aug, 09 and had a fine time camping in it. The kids love it. Last spring we took it to Washington, DC to see the sites. Then, last summer I was a camp host at a Virginia state park. This summer, I'll be hosting with the National Park Service on the Outer Banks, NC.
Over time, I've made some mods to it which included a upgrade to the thermostat. Added a Hunter which does a better job of temp control. Then I changed the Jack to a Baker Power Jack, 3000 lb. I had to change the slide wiper gasket. The old one had rusted and wouldn't stay on the flange. I changed to a ParkPower cord just to feel safer because the old plug had become too loose.

Hello fellow Eastern Virginian and welcome. Are you from the Tidewater area? We camp at Kiptopeke SP here on the Eastern shore at least once a yr. Great place.

Thanks! I live in Suffolk. I've looked at Kiptopeke before and I think I'll give it a try sometime. The bridge toll keeps me on this side. We camped at Chippokes and I was a host at the farm there, also. A great experience. Certainly recommend it.

Yeah I`ve got my eye on Chippokes for next Fall. I think we went through or near Suffolk (rte 460?) on our way to a Boy Scout camp at Blackstone back in November. That`s peanut country if I recall correctly. Nice area.

Peanut is one of the main crops here. Cotton is right up there with it. Been a while since I was on the Eastern shore, but as I recall it was really nice.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Tanker42! If all our plans go well this Spring, we will be camping for a month near Virginia Beach and at a cousin's property in Franklin. We will also spend a week near DC driveway camping at my neice's house. We will head home via the Blueridge and Natchez Trail pkwy's. How very kewl that you will spend some time at the outer banks. We only had three days to spend there a couple of years ago and loved it! :)

Thanks for the welcome. Last spring, we took the camper to Washington, DC and stayed at Andrews Air Force Base camp ground. It's only 4 mi from Metro which makes it handy. We're returning there in March for spring break. Franklin is right down the road from us, so you'll be close to all the attractions.
