Hi folks, I am a new member from Tennesse. I do not currently own a Jayco, but, I am buying one soon. I am looking hard at a new X213. My wife and two sons (ages 5 and 3) love to go camping and I was wondering if the X213 will satisfy our needs now and down the road. No problems with TV, 5.4L Ford F-150 Supercab FX4. We currently own a 1976 Coleman Brandywine PUP and although it has served us well, we feel we are ready to move up. Any thoughts on the X213?

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum katgar05! Looks like a nice floorplan for a family of four. Let us know what you wind up doing! :)

When I pull the trigger, it will DEFINITELY be a Jayco, just not sure what floor plan I'm going to get.

Hey, I have owned my '06 Jay Flight 27.5 RLS 5th wheel for a little over a year now and I LOVE IT!!! Hadn't been camping in years until last summer and tent camping in AR for the 4th of July was fun but too hot for me to truly enjoy.... love the a/c in my 5er.
I have learned tons already reading the different threads. Many of you have already given me so many ideas and I've already started putting some MOD in place! Looking forward to learning much more.
Thanks, Sunshine

I purchased a 2011 X213 last month and love it. I have a young family as well and the size and layout is perfect for us. The trailer is easy to pull and I like the fact that it isn't that long while traveling down the road, 20 feet plus the hitch. Once at the camp ground it is easy to position and a breeze to set up. One beef I have with the trailer itself is that it doesn't have much outdoor storage, but I can deal with that. The only other downfall that I am currently having looked at at the dealership is that the rear slide out is not level once fully extended which equals an uneven sleep on the master bed. The service guy advises that this is a common problem with this model and that he is currently working on a fix for it. I wounder how many others have run into this??? Maybe I am just a sensitive sleeper, but my head is at least an inch and a half lower then my feet.

All in all, it is a great rig and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Hey Katgar! Welcome to the forum -- looks like you are pretty close to me!

Let me ask you this question - what has pushed you to the X213? What are your concerns - weight, cost, size, etc?

My concerns with the X213 is the reliability and durability of the king bed slide and the walkway space between the couch and dinette. I would also like to stay around 6000 lbs loaded. I also would like a camper that has bunks that my 5 and 3 year olds will be okay with when they are teenagers. But, I am open to any other model suggestions. TV is a Ford F-150 FX4 Supercab with a 5.4 and 3.73.

So what keeps you from looking at a Jayflight like a 26BH or a Swift 264BH?

Not saying one is better than the other - just trying to stir some discussion that will hopefully help you choose.

Nothing wrong with the Swift's, just not my preference. I have not looked at a 26BHS, but did walk through a 25BHS which I really liked, just wished it wasn't 6000 lbs unloaded. I will check out the 26BHS. Any thoughts out there on a 28R?

TAFISCHE, I sent you a private message.

I really liked the 25BHS, but it was just too much weight with the slide for me. I ended up going with the 26BH because it is lightweight and a good price. That 28R looks good, just a little heavier with the side if you are very concerned with weight. You will be surprised how much weight all the gear will add, not to mention firewood, etc so keep that in mind when looking at total weight.

tafische,

I really like the 25BHS, but at 6000 lbs unloaded, I think I will be at 7500 lbs once I load all of the kids stuff, coolers, propane, and firewood. My TV is rated to pull 9500 lbs, I'm just not too sure I want to be towing that much. I will keep looking around and eventually find one. Where do you go camping?

One other concern I have is the DW is 5' 11" and her feet hang off the end of the bed, that's another reason I was looking at the X213, a king bed.

Yeah, that extra weight kept me away from the 25BHS, although it was my favorite. My 26BH is around 4700 empty I think - so I am around 6000 with gear and firewood.

I am 5'11" and so far i do pretty well in the regular bed. Sometimes my feet hang off a little, but I don't notice it. Have you checked the measurements of that king?? -- I wonder if they use a shorter length mattress like they do with the Queen or is it a true king length? If it true length - then that would be nice!
