Hello, I'm new to this forum but not to owning a Jayco. My girl friend and I have recently traded our 2007 Jay Flight 25 RKS in for a new 2012 Eagle Super Lite 308 RETS. This is our first Eagle travel trailer and can not wait to pick it up in the end of March from our dealer. Just curious, has anyone picked their's up yet? I have yet to see one in person and ordered it back when there was only a few pics floating around on the web.

Thank you all for the welcoming. No plans as of yet, 3rd weekend of May is a long way away before our provincial parks open here in northern Ontario. After reading some posts on here and Facebook I'm starting to get a little worried about trading in our 07 for the 2012 and all the potential issues people are having with the newer ones

Your bound to have some kind of warranty issue with any car/rv you purchase. It's just nice when you can have a two year warranty with an rv where you have the time to find them and fix them (some folks with other brands of rv's realize problems with their rv after a year and have to have the 'fix' done out of pocket). This is a Jayo specific forum. You won't find too much discussion on other rv brands problems here but a lot about Jayco.

Some of the recent topics here may concern parts or accessories that also may be installed on other rv brands (not just Jayco). I had problems with a "bad" lot of Dexter brakes installed during the time period my tt was built in 2009. As it turns out, many other brands of rv's for that period of time were also affected as Dexter provides their brakes to other rv companies beside Jayco, however, not many other Jayco owners had the same experience fortunately.

If anything, hopefully JOF is able to help keep you apprised of different issues that have come up with other owners so you know what to watch for. Not all rv brands have dedicated forums like JOF so you are on your own if you buy that particular brand. Hopefully this helps re-assure you, but you are definitely in the right place to keep in the know about your new Jayco or rv'ing in general :)
 
And remember, for each post there are about problems there are hundreds of owners without issues who do not post about their rigs because they are performing normally and as expected. Understandably someone having many and/or major problems is going to voice their concerns.
 
Welcome, I just joined a couple of day ago. We go to get our SuperLite HT 26.5 RLS paid for on Friday. Will leave it at the dealer until after April 15 since we aren't planning on going anywhere until then anyway.
 
I thought about going with an HT and really like them but in the end I just didn't want to drill the holes in my box for a mount or lose the space when towing. The odd weekend we do take the quad along so that's where the TT fits the best.
 
Hello! Congrats on the new trailer.

I wanted to let you know I did see one in person at the RV show this past weekend. They look very nice inside!

I have the model before yours - the 298RES - so I was very interested in what they did to make it a new layout.

Looks like the major difference is the wardrobe slide out in the bathroom/bedroom. This gives you so much more storage than my model.
The door to the bathroom changed, it is in the hallway where mine is on an angle. But I don't see any space taken away or added into the bathroom due to this that would cause concern.
Still has limited counter space in the kitchen and the space between the dining booth/table and frig looks a bit bigger. But I'm not really sure what you could put there other than a broom or umbrella, LOL.
Oh and you lose the corner pantry, but I think you gain more usable storage with your wardrobe slide outs.
Just from a look inside, I think you will be very happy with your trailer.

Originally we went in to order the 298 but they were discontinued and we had to wait for the 308. I didn't care as much for the lack of clothing storage in the 298 and we were hesitant on ordering it. The loss in the corner pantry wasn't a big deal since the pantry next to the stove in the 308 has the same size one as the one to our previous 25rks and we were never short of room in the kitchen area. I also didn't like losing the big ward in the 298 from our 25rks, it's a good place to put the big bags of dog food for the 2 labs and see that has been incorporated back into the 308. There are no scare lights on the 308 so we asked to have one put in at the time of build as well as remove a portion of center carpet to expose more linoleum and Jayco agreed to doing so. My dealer also confirmed we can order a counter top extension like in some of the other models once we receive it. All in all it looks like it will be good once the missings get put back into it.
 
Ours is due in sometime early March. Like you, we got caught in the discontinuance of the 298RES, with only dealer stock available, which all dealer models had more options than we wanted. We looked long and hard and settled on the 298RES, but really like the updated 308RETS version!
