Hello fellow RV'ers my name is Randall, my wife and I have owned our current fifth wheel a Forest River Cardinal for the past 15 years and it has served us very well. Last week we attended a local RV show and really liked the look of the Jayco Pinnacle so we started to do some research for the next week or so and decided to purchase a Pinnacle 32RLTS. Got in touch with Blue Compass RV and they have a FBP silver metallic unit in stock so we bit the bullet and made the purchase. Plan is to make the trip sometime during the next week or two and bring it home, any help that you may have is always welcomed. I changed over to hydraulic disk brakes on our current Cardinal and it stops like a dream, the new Pinnacle will come with drum brakes and hopefully they have made improvements on the drum setup during the last 15 years or else I will certainly do the disc swap on the Pinnacle down the road.

Our 2020 came with electric brakes and as our previous fifth wheel had discs I found them lacking. We had Performance Trailer Braking do the disc conversion about a year after we got it. Much better. Other than that ours has been most trouble free and is very comfortable. Good luck with your purchase.

Welcome to Jayco Owner's Forum from New Hampshire.
Congratulations on your purchase. Excellent camper!

I agree with the recommendation of Performance Trailer Braking. We upgraded our camper's suspension with better leaf springs, heavy duty shackles, upgraded axles, shocks and disc brakes. They sent a tech team over to our campground in Florida and completed the whole job in two days. Best in the business.

If you haven't yet picked up your new camper, I've attached a popular checklist you might use during your initial inspection (walk-through) before you take it off the lot.

If possible, you may want to locate a campground very near the dealer so you can spend a couple nights for your first time out.

I see you're in Alabama, we stop in Birmingham both on our way down to Florida for winter and our way back. I grew up in Mobile. Roll Tide!

Which truck are you using to tow it and do you have some trips planned yet?
Are you familiar with RV Trip Wizard?

X2 to the brakes. Not sure which one of you mentioned this to me after we bought ours, but very pleased with the braking after the conversion.

Things kind of changed on our original plans on the unit from Blue Compass, so we decided to place an order for the 2025 (32RLTS) it's a full body paint unit and I realize that takes additional time to build. Does anyone have any experience when ordering a new unit from the factory how long it takes for the unit to be built and delivered?

Thanks in advance,
Randall

It really varies, or it used to, since they don't start a run until they get a certain number of orders. Your dealer should be able to get an estimate from their Sales Rep.

Congratulations on your purchase. Excellent camper! What are you pulling it with?

We ordered our 2022 321RSTS 4/2/2021 it arrived from Jayco on 8/13/2021 and we took delivery 8/25/2021.

Below is a checklist you might want to use... just to make sure everything is working before you take it off the lot.

If possible, find a campsite very close (walking distance?) to your dealer and stay there for at least one night before you take it on a long trip... just to make sure everything is working.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Pinnacle!!

You will love it. Lots of nice features and very comfortable. We have been very happy with trailer drum brakes on our Pinnacle that weighs ~16,500 lbs loaded particularly since the truck has an exhaust brake and we use that all the time in conjunction with cruise control to control speed and avoid using the truck brakes on downgrades. All previous 3 fifth wheel trailers over 20 years have had drum brakes without issues.
