I've been reading all the posts but just joined this past weekend. I have been enjoying all the hints, tips and information that everyone has posted. Everyone seems so friendly and helpful.

My husband and I bought our first travel trailer in October and we can hardly wait until April when it comes out of storage. We bought a 2011 22FB. As a child my husband went camping in a pop-up and then a travel trailer. I've never camped in anything but a tent, so this seems like a luxury to me. We also bought a 2007 Silverado to pull the travel trailer.

We have booked sites for two, one week camping trips and two long weekends. We hope to do more weekend trips as well. I only get two weeks vacation from work so that's disappointing but we'll do the best we can with the little vacation time I get.

:D

Welcome and congrats on the new 22FB. I know what you mean about not getting time off to camp when you want to. With my somewhat seasonal job I get time off in the Winter when there`s not much happening on the camping scene and get very little time off in the Spring/ Summer! But ya gotta do what ya gotta do I suppose. -Lee

Welcome to the site, Kathy. We also started out in tents and you are sure going to enjoy the RV now. Hopefully you are near some areas that you can make in a weekend. So far, weekends are the majority of our camping and there is nothing wrong with that...especially if you work in a 3 day weekend every so often. Happy camping......

Kathy, if you cannot get time off; pretent your at your campsite and just camp in your driveway. We have our RV in backyard and I have been known to just hang out in it and even sleep back there.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Kathy and Diane! As Muelldawg said, camping in the driveway is awesome!!!! Congrats and post pics when you can :)

Thank You

Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement. I can hardly wait to get out and camp! :D

Our first camping trip is booked for May 20 - 22. That's our first long weekend up here in Canada. We are going to a Provincial Campground about 1 1/2 hours from where we live. We don't want to drive too far for our first trip in case we have any problems.

The way this winter is going I just hope we don't have snow that weekend!
:(

Wow, I hope you don't have snow then! That would suck! But if it is cold, have you read anywhere here where it's recommended to run your heater for a while before you actually camp in it as it smells the first time it's used! Ours actually set the alarm off! *yikes*. :)

KathyDiane,

My family always heads out the weekend before the long weekend because its alot quieter at the provincial parks. You don't even have to book ahead of time. If you see its going to be cold then no problem.

Enjoy

If the weather is nice that weekend we just might do that! Thanks for mentioning that.
