New to rving

Hi, we are planning to buy a Melbourne 24k this spring. I'm looking for information and pros & cons on anything I can get. We are both retired and looking for a new adventure. Thank You

Welcome to the forum and to RVing. We have a 2017 Melbourne 24L and are enjoying it a great deal. Since it is just the two of us, it is more than sufficient for our needs. There are two major things we have added to our Melbourne, hydraulic stabilizers and a rear anti sway bar. Both have made a big difference. The anti sway bar helps in higher winds and when larger vehicles pass us and the stabilizers provide great stability when we are parked at an RV park or anywhere else. Good luck and happy camping. One thing I always ask friends who ask this question is: Can you and your wife be together in a 200 sf area for extended times without killing each other? My neighbor did not take my advice and has a mh home sitting in his yard that has been on one trip.

Sounds like a no brainer but I know a few long married friends who could not.

Welcome to JOF. Do your looking and research and get what you want to start with the first time. Read and absorb all you can about the rv and the process of buying one.

It's a great lifestyle but you can waste a bundle if you buy one you don't like.

Hi to you and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on your retirement and the desire for adventure in RVing. Use the search function on this site and start reading to learn a lot. Even if a search doesn't return exactly what you thought you wanted, just start reading and odds are you'll learn stuff.

RVing isn't for everyone. Most of us on this site began by camping in tents as youngsters and gradually moved on to motorhomes and trailers. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you 'try it before you buy it' by renting a class C for at least a week. If you are new to RVing, that will be adventure ; hopefully a positive one.

Welcome to the forum.

The Melbourne is a great unit built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. I own a Sprinter passenger van and absolutely love it. I suggest however that you familiarize yourself with the Sprinter before you make your final decision. They are amazing vehicles as I mentioned. However, there is somewhat limited service availability compared to comparable GM or Ford chassis (my closest Sprinter service center is over 50 miles away from my home and the next is almost 200).
