New to the Site

Hello everyone,
My wife and I are the new owners of a 2008 Jayco 22FB. This looks like a nice site with lots of good people and information. We are getting things ready and planning our first trip, I plan on getting the bearings and brakes serviced and get new Maxxis tires installed before heading out. I had to tow it 6hrs to get it home and it towed quite nice with my 2016 Chev Silverado and a Reese weight distribution hitch. Camping with a travel trailer is new to us so we are looking forward to learning as we go.

Do as much reading as you can, and when needed, ask away!!! We are here to help [you spend money on needed items!!! ]. Your first trip you may consider staying at Camp Driveway. That way if you find you need something, you just run into the house to grab it. And make a list of items you think you could use. Makes it easier to remember....

Did you buy from a dealer or the previous owner? Regardless, you may need to readjust the wdh for your truck, once the trailer is loaded up and ready for a trip. A ton of info in my signature links on wdh's. Any questions just ask.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! We greatly appreciate your offers of advice, and will try to learn as much as we can from reading. Our first few nights will definitely be spent in the driveway, and our first "away" trip will be for 2 or 3 nights.

Welcome aboard. One thing I would do soon is go up on the roof and check all the caulking. It cracks a bublrs, and will let water in. I found a few this spring on mine, that need to be caulked, including a few side wall locations.

Also know that your tt should have a propane detector, and if working properly it will kill the battery within about a week or so unless you keep the tt plugged in between trips. I mounted a Blue Sea mini switch to my battery box to eliminate this. Makes it easy compared to unhooking the battery after every trip.l, just a 1/4 turn and the battery if unhooked. Check my mods link for pics. I actually replaced the battery box with a group 27 box, and mounted the switch in it.

If you don't have a power tongue jack, they are awesome for hooking a wdh up!!!

I wondered how much the detectors drain...the battery goes down like you said. I may need to look at a new battery some day as it is the original from 2008. The battery switch and power jack would be handy items as well as well.
