Hey everyone, my wife and I just picked up a used 2012 Jayco swift SLX 154bh for a fantastic deal. I'm looking forward to learning the ways of camping in style via this forum so I'll try to absorb all I can.
A little bit about us, a family of 3 with our son being 2-1/2 years old. We will primarily use this camper when traveling to offroad park around the area while rock crawling in our jeep. In the offroad wold there are few options that allow us to pull the jeep out there AND have somewhere to sleep with A/C and heat, enclosed race trailers are often too expensive so being that I need to actually trailer my jeep rather than use a tow bar (in case something breaks) I'm left with 1 option. I just bought a new 32' gooseneck lowboy 14K trailer, then I bought this small travel trailer, now I'm going to make this jayco sit on the front of my gooseneck so I still have room to pull the jeep up on the back.
First off, I'm going to have to remove the axle and figure out a way to fasten the jayco to my gooseneck while still making it removable so we can go on basic camping trips as well. I have my work cut out for me but looking forward to the build.
We've been looking for 6 months for a good quality camper that's light enough but still offered decent inside space with the bunks. Anyways, enough talking, I'll start up a build journal thread of the cleaning and fixing of the jayco and the basic mounting and upgrade we do. I have a ton of questions already so I'll be searching galore.
