Hello,

After struggling with leaks in our old Skamper trailer and realizing we weren't going to get the few more years out of it that we had wanted.

We did a lot of shopping for an interim trailer on our limited budget. A friend pointed us to someone who had the Designer mentioned in the thread title here.

It was very well maintained and clean and very well constructed and my top to bottom inspection found 0 evidence of leaks. We bought it and are excited to move it to our seasonal site soon.

This trailer seems like it will serve us much longer than a few "interim" years until we buy our "perfect" trailer.

Any maintenance tips or advice would certainly be welcome.

Congrats on finding the new to you trailer.
Depending on how the trailer was stored prior to you the roof will be your biggest concern.
Rubber roofs life span is 10 to 15 years so you be inspecting and recaulking as needed on a regular basis. Check all seams and clean and recaulk as necessary also check all windows and reseal as needed.
I battery check for water and load test is also recommended.
Check all appliances for proper operation and all flues for cob and spider webs.
Check for propane leaks and check the operation of fire alarms and propane detectors.
This should get you started and I'm sure others will chime in on things i have forgot.
Enjoy the trailer and Happy Camping!!!

Welcome to the JOF Jim and Sheila! As mentioned above, keeping the caulking current along the roof and sides will help prevent those leaks as your 'new' Designer continues to age. If you plan to move the tt back and forth from a seasonal site during your ownership, have the bearings repacked in the wheels... ya never know how far the unit has traveled since that has been done :)
