Hi all,

After camping in a tent trailer since well, as long as I can remember my wife and I bought a 1999 Dutchmen Tent Trailer to intro her into camping. She loved it. We just sold it for a 2012 Jayco JayFeather X212 and can't believe how amazing it is camping with a full travel trailer!

One thing I really want to find is a slide topper for the x213 but very hard to find (at least I think). Live in a fairly rainy climate and think this would be a good first mod. Second mod will be a new step system, one stair just ain't working for the young kids (2 years old). I see camping world has a 2 stair option for $85 bucks.

Any hints for a x213 owner? I love the layout and we have enjoyed our time in it so far.

Looking forward to contributing on here.

Jeremy

 Welcome to the forum. Hope you can find solutions to your problems quickly and easily. Check the links and the travel trailer section of this forum and you might find answers to your questions. Good luck and enjoy your new unit. It's a great way to raise a family!

Welcome to the forum you will gain alot knowledge here, and yes you are doing the right thing ,asking questions. I too recall that feeling of excitement when moving up from a popup to a travel trailer, good luck

Hey eh! Meridian rv in Coquitlam along the Mary Hill bypass is a great place to shop rv parts. Traveland is further and I did not receive good feelings from them in the past. Is that a Tacoma in the shot of your setup? I'm not a hybrid owner but my tip is easy on the black tank!

What is your distance from the TT floor and the ground? The reason I'm asking is that you might only need a small platform to place on the ground for that first step. Normal step spacing is a 7-1/2" riser, otherwise they and you might trip. I have a platform for mine and in the AM I'll take a pic for you and post.

This is the 4" platform I made for when that 1st step is more than 7". It has worked out great for us, the Tunce and the grand kids. That plastic outdoor mat on top is good for wiping your feet off.

Thanks Fawcett. Yes, it is a Tacoma. Love that truck. Sorry for the late reply, I am new this the forums and forgot to subscribe to my thread for updates.

Thanks Tunce! I missed your original post hence the late reply. The step from factory is a single step and is 16" from ground to tread. Really bad design. I may put on the double step then complement it with your idea here! Thanks for the tip and the effort in taking a picture for me! Happy camping!

Welcome.
I have never liked the steps on TT's (My daughter and I are clutzy). my brother n law uses 'Hot tub steps' he ordered from Amazon, after admiring the steps, guess what my in laws got me for my birthday.....yup hot tub steps. My parents were admiring the steps recently, so I am ordering them a set.
