Newby question on stabilizers

Not exactly a newby (been here for 3 months) but this a newby question. I understand that I should not fully extend my stabilizers as not having them extended apparently gives better stability. But what I don't understand is that if I use the lego style leveling blocks ( I already bought them to do the leveling) and they are just a tall tower how is that any different than extending the jack legs. Should I be using a 4x4 block instead?

The more you extend your stabilizer jacks the less leverage your stabilizer jack has to keep the unit stabilized.So as long as you keep the stabilizers around the half way mark they will be functioning to their maximum potental even if you have a 10 inch wood build up under them.
Another way to look at it is your lego blocks are the same as using a wood 4X4 block under the stabilizer jacks and the purpose for either is to keep the jack's from having to be extended to the point that they loose their max leverage.
The wider the footprint the more stability,less footprint less stability.

The Lego style blocks have a larger footprint than a 4 x 4 and will give you better stability in my opinion.

Okay thanks. I knew that I needed something which is why I got them I just wondered why there was a difference since both the Legos and the 4x4 are still purring the weight Oma single column. One advantage to the 4x4 is tan I can make the ground footprint longer on one direction. Anyway I will invest in more Legos. I only have ten so I might need more. Thanks to everyone
