Non ethanol gas.

Wile on our trip to Florida and back I checked the gas milage on our 2019 Grey Hawk 29mv. After several stops and checks I was getting 9.5 to 10 mpg driving 60 to 65 mph. I noticed in Tennessee and Georgia Buc-cees has non ethanol or 100% pure gas. Although the non ethanol gas is about 25 cents higher in price the results were amazing. My fuel millage on my first tank of non ethanol gas was 12.7 mpg. Second tank was 13.2. Has anyone compared no ethanol gas with ethanol added gas and was your findings the same as mine?

The day I bought my new 2007 Tundra I filled it up for my 150 mile trip back home with 87 octane…no ethanol in gas back then. I filled it up and checked the mileage and was pleased to see 21mph. I was always getting 19-21mpg on a regular basis. Then came the corn gas and my mileage dropped to 16-18 mpg. So what does ethanol gas achieve…burn more gas, cause more pollution and make the corn farmers in Iowa rich…:(

And then you see this....from 2022

Feb 14 (Reuters) - Corn-based ethanol, which for years has been mixed in huge quantities into gasoline sold at U.S. pumps, is likely a much bigger contributor to global warming than straight gasoline, according to a study published Monday

There are also many stations that don't always have it labled.

Let's see, Ethanol provides for poorer gas mileage, pollutes more, gov subsidized, less power, gums up carburetors (especially generators) and fuel systems, poor shelf life, absorbs moisture, what's not to like about all of that? ~CA

BTW, I have used non-ethanol gas in my pickup truck and noticed better fuel mileage and more power.

Wish E-0 were reasonable around here. There's one station within 40 minutes with it so they jack the price up to $5/gal when regular's just over $3.

I wondered why the FTC is not involved in the mislabeling of the added ethanol (10%)? Signs at gas stations call it "Gasoline", but in reality, it's a gasoline blend.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to give "E-0" a shot next time and see what kind of milage we get.

Any where by the water has ethanol free. Most boating town gas stations have it. It is everywhere I live.

Until recently, non-corn gas wasn't available anywhere close to me. I just about threw a party about 2 years ago when I went to a newly built service station relatively close by that has it.

The funniest thing that I noticed about E-gas was on our trip to Mt. Rushmore a few years ago. Of course, we had to drive through ENDLESS fields of corn in the Midwest. The ratios of corn gas vs not were almost exactly opposite of what they are at home; non-e gas was the norm, and e-gas was the exception. There I was pumping fuel in the middle of hundreds of thousands of acres of corn, pumping gas with no ethanol in it!!

And the rig ran absolutely fantastic all the way through those areas!! If it weren't for the price/accessibility of the non-E stuff, I'd use it exclusively. I already try to use it in my boats as much as possible, but 55 gallons of the stuff at the highly inflated price is a bit of a tough pill to swallow. So I usually just try to burn it faster, and use stabilizer when I can't...

Farmers are a purely economic animal. They will grow the crop with the highest ROI per acre. IMO, the US agricultural industry, by way of USDA and CIRB is the 2nd biggest political tool at the government's disposal; 2nd only to the Internal Revenue Code.

Garlic Dude. Thanks for the listing of OE gas stations. I have seen this listing before. Very helpful, Thanks again

In the opposite direction, I have tried E-85 or E-15 in my landscape trucks before. I usually run the E-10 like most everyone else. But once in awhile, Sheetz will do some super cheap pricing on their E-85 or E-15 gas.

I always get right at 8.0 mpg with my F350 6.2L trucks running E-10 on the same route every week. When I run the route with E-85, I always get 6.8 mpg. It's like that every time I do it.

So I stopped doing it.

I wish non-ethanol fuel was only .25 a gallon difference where I’m at. I run non-ethanol only in my boat and along the Texas coast it’s usually about $.75-$.90 more per gallon. Never tried it in the truck for that reason.

Unless you get it on the water, then it's about double.

We launched our boat one day, and only after did I realize "it ain't got no gas in it". Called the closest marina, and sure they had fuel on the water, for more than 2x the price of the "on-road" stations. Thanked the nice lady for her time and told DW to go get the truck! Granted, we're talking about 10% ethanol gas at Wal-Mart vs non-e-gas at the marina, but still...

I haven't looked lately at our local place, but it's usually more than $1/gal price differential. And the RV and the boat both have 55 gal tanks, so that's real money.

Marina's have always been higher than the local gas stations. I remember years ago, when we were into boating, we would spend weeks at a time at Dale Hollow Lake. Although gas was available at the dock where we camped I would pull the boat out and take it less than 2 miles and get gas at the local gas station. As I recall at that time gas was .50 cents higher at the dock...

Dock gas is always higher, ethanol free, higher octane and usually has an additive. But diesel is way cheaper cause there is no highway tax. That’s because people with money have hugh boats diesel powered and write the laws. But us poor gas boaters still pay a highway tax at a marina.

Toyota

I only ran non-ethanol fuel in my FJ. On the rare occasion that couldn’t find it and had to run the blend the truck retaliated with sluggishness, engine pinging and loss of tow power. I also never use mixed fuel in small engines because it gums up the fuel system. Ethanol is nothing but another government sponsored scam.
