Not new to camping, just TT camping!

Happy to meet everyone & hope to find more great advice on here,
Hi! I'm Kim and live in southern Ohio. We are long time campers at our permanent campsite with mobile home on it. We've decided that we'd like to experience other locations so we bought our first TT--2012 Jayco Jayflight 32bhds and already have 3 trips booked for 2012 and still counting! I do have a bit of buyer's remorse after reading some problems other Jayco owner's have and hope it doesn't happen to us because I did have to convince my hubby (19 yrs) to begin this new adventure with me. He was content with our permanent campsite nearby.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Kim and family! When researching new tt's three years ago, I found complaints from different tt manufacturers we had checked out. The one thing I liked about the Jayco was the two year warranty though. Where will you first take your tt for it's maiden voyage?

Living in Southwest Ohio, we decided to stay close to home and will camp in Hocking Hills for the first jaunt. Planning to take long trip to Lake Michigan spots in summer and places in between throughout the year. Hoping to hit the SC or FL shores for winter holidays 2012. Just saw the "how to" section on getting a great price on your TT and I bit my nails while figuring up our % of MSRP and it was 25%.

I love your floor plan. If we had a 3/4 ton, the 32bhds is the tt we would have wound up with. Any chance that you will do some "Camp Driveway" before your first trip? I bet the kids are almost as eager as you to get in there and try it out

I hope the weather warms up for you early this Spring so you can get to campin'.

I work in a dealership, when you see problems just remember everything mechanical may have a problem. Also, for every unit that has a problem there are many more that do not. When we got our 97 Eagle 230SL we kept blowing boards in the fridge. The dealer resolved it and we were happy. The last service was a roof leak, it was minor. The expense was walking around the dealer lot and finding another trailer!

We will definitely have trial runs in the yard. We tested the furnace out today and it warmed up nicely. The hubby has already taken it out for dry runs to see how it handles on steep hills, corners, etc...He's used to pulling long trailers, except they are usually cattle stock trailers! It will be nice to pull something that doesn't "leak" brown stuff, if you know what I mean!

And of course you went out to drive some of those trial runs yourself too, right? LOL

One thing many 'team players' have learned to do is get walkie-talkies (cell phone to cell phone may not always work in some cg's). They really help when the driver is backing the tt in and the passenger is in the campspot trying to guide the process. Yelling works well if you like to entertain your 'neighbors'

So, did your heater set off the fire alarm? The refrigerator also stinks up the place a little the first time you fire it up (well it smells on the outside anyhow)

Does your 24FBS have 86 gals of fresh water? If so, you could probably do fine with that unless you use a lot of water. What you might want to invest in is a portable tank so you don't have to move the trailer to dump.

* Just noticed your signature says 2010 so I am guessing you can hold more like 36 gallons.

Welcome to the forum CruizinKim. Congrats on your 2012 Jayco Jayflight 32bhds, great floorplan! I camped for many years seeing both the good ol' USA and Canada from coast to coast. We've been on a seasonal site for 4 years and I kinda miss travelling, but I figure there isn't a whole lot we haven't scene. I'm on my 2nd year of retirement, DW has a few years to go yet and after that we'll probably hit the road again.

After camping with a 230SL you learn to conserve. We normaly use the campground facilities. With the new trailer we do have the 86 gal freshwater tank. I beleive the grey/black are 32 or 36 gal.

With some reasonable conservation and a portable tank then, you should be good to go. Enjoy!

Stayed a Hocking hills a few years ago. Read up on your site at http://www.ohio.reserveworld.com/Searchpark.aspx. While the blacktop pads are level there's allot of small lots and uneven sites. I stayed a week and didn't fill my tanks. Had to refill water once. I have a 34 gal fresh water but 40 black and 40 gray. I use 6 gal water jugs and a drill powered pump to transfer water to trailer. I used their facilities mostly.

Thanks Jim! I did end up booking Hocking Hills State Park for 4 nts. We're traveling with another family of 4, but they're staying in a tent. Somehow, I believe they'll end up in our TT!!
