We are SOOOOO excited about our new 2012 Jayco 30.5 BHLT fifth wheel. It made its way to the dealer last week and we'll be picking it up this Thursday. We decided to add slide toppers, so they had to order and install before we bring it home.
This will be our second camper and our first Jayco. When we began looking for new campers about 3 months ago, I was very impressed by the quality and service all the Jayco owners received. We previously owned a Keystone Passport travel trailer.
We'll be pulling our new fifth wheel with a Chevy 3500HD. We purchased a B&W companion 5th wheel hitch.
This is all new to us. We're used to that travel trailer and bumper hitch.

Can't wait. I'd like to just go down to the dealer and visit my new rig today!

I was curious to know if anyone has any feedback on using the 'wash bowl' that is attached to the exterior folddown cooktop. Our previous travel trailer had an outdoor cooktop, which I absolutely loved. However, I am not so sure about what we say looks like "a big salad bowl" that is attached to the cooktop on the Jayco.

The washbowl is removable which is good because there is no drain. I really haven't used it as a washbowl, but I have used the sprayer host attachment, now that I like A LOT! We've had ours for a couple months now and have had a couple of minor issues. One shelf in the bathroom cabinet wasn't secured, the extendable dinette back fell off one of the booths (had to screw it back in), Air Conditioner mounting bolts were loose, molding in the bedroom not completely stapled to the wall, one blind string was broken and just this past weekend noticed that 2 nuts holding the kitchen sink had fallen off along with the brackets and the rest were loose. All minor stuff easy to repair, but who wants to repair a new camper!

We love the layout, it's awesome, pulls excellent and many aspects are very high quality. There are 2 LP quick disconnects one for the outside stove and one for the RVQ grill option which we don't have. I'm planning on making a hose to connect my Coleman grill to the trailer supply but haven't done so yet. Good call on the slide toppers, we don't have them but it would make a great addition. It would be great to see the improvements that are in the 2012 model.

These are great things to know. We'll definitely check everywhere we can find for loose screws, bolts, etc. I guess I assumed that the dealer would check all that stuff when they 'detail' the camper before it leaves the lot.
What about the storage area/trundle under the U-shaped dinette? Does that do something special that we don't realize? Looks hard to access.
- would love to get more feedback from you as you think of it
Some of the options that we got on the 2012 are: sidekick grill, satellite dish, keyless entry, and a second A/C

Nice options. The U part of the U shaped dinette is movable and can be used as an ottoman, you have to remove the table to move it out of there. It has storage under the cushion. Because the dinette expands, there isn't as much under seat storage as in many units, but this thing has SO much storage that it just isn't an issue for us. You'll have to let me know the details on that second A/C, I want to be prepared just in case. In 2011, there wasn't a keyless option :-(

When we picked up the camper, my wife was disappointed that the bathroom sliding door didn't lock. I added a pin lock (sliding door lock) and am able to lock in the open or closed position. Here's the write up

Very clever. I racked my brain trying to figure out how that door could be locked before deciding I didn't want a door there anyway and will remove it and fill in the doorway with a wall when I get my trailer.

very nice idea on the lock - I was already thinking the same thing, that is, about it not already having a lock on it
I"ll have to show my husband those photos.

Hey, Nylyon, still don't have our camper. We're picking it up on Saturday morning. Of course I shouldn't be worried about this now, but I do have a question.
Is there any room in the kitchen area when the slides are not out? Just curious. Sometime we pull over at rest stops and eat in our camper. While I realize it's not a big deal to just put the slides out, I was curious how much room there is without putting them out.

Now we both know you don't want me to tell you, you want me to show you, so here it is....

very cool - as far as the dinette goes, a nice feature would be to have the option of setting the table up in two different positions
Okay, so you can still get to the frig and dinette when the slides are in.
Thanks A LOT for the pics.
I cannot wait to get ours on Saturday.
