Outside Maintenance

We've noticed some older class C where the fiberglass siding has yellowed. We recently purchased a 2021 Redhawk. Any suggestions on how to maintain the outside so it stays white? I was reading & it seems that an RV’s fiberglass “skin” can be either Filon or Gel-coat and they are each maintained differently. Thoughts?

Well the front cap is fiberglass and takes some work to keep polished and clean. We polish ours once a year with orbital polisher and wash after each use. The sides we polish and wax also as they are a painted siding. Now we are fortunate enough to no longer leave our rv sitting outside when not in use and has it’s own garage spot.

I used a product called Poli Glow Deluxe Kit. Worked well, lots of elbow grease. First you remove the oxidation than you apply many times a sealer that creates a very new look. Got the kit on Amazon.

I have a 2019 Redhawk class C. We camp a lot. Turning yellow is inevitable. When not in use I cover mine while in storage half the year, while in florida, the other half it is in an indoor storage facility up north. I have the RV waxed with a hand rubbed wax once a year and polish the front cap with NUfinish polish twice a year with an electric orbital polisher. Having said that, 3 years ago I had to have my front cap repainted after the two-year warranty was up! Gelcoat was starting to strip off the front, Imagine that!. I had it repainted with urethane paint, the same paint they use on airplanes. it looks fantastic! Redid all the factory decals too. Was expensive but well worth it. Makes the RV look like brand new!
