plugging the 2 over-flow drain hoses

Has anyone thought of putting plugs or valves on the two over flow hoses that hang out of the bottom of the RV ---NOT the low point drain with the pet cock valve.

I have seen it on other brands of RV's so that you can control the loss of water , say when going up or down mountain passes and around turns and the water leaks out so that when you get to your camp site you have lost a third of your water.

Just curious to see what people have done or think about doing this to try and keep the tanks full in undulating terrain when traveling to your campsite.

Thanks

I done it. First I extended them to where I can reach the plugs so I can remove them while filling. I am pretty sure there are posts about it on this forum.

Yep lots of us have done this, especially when traveling with full tanks on the road. I usually fill at the campground but even the short drive to the site has caused lost water.

Many people put valves in the ends of the tubes, as you said. I just connect the two hoses together with a piece of tubing that slips inside the overflow tubes.

SO its a closed system with the tanks, so no problems with plugging them after you fill the water tanks then travel with the plugs on ??

I would think it would be fine and dont see why JAYCO has not put the valves on them already when other brands are doing it... seems like a no brainer.

Thanks for the replys.

The only thing you have to be careful with is venting. If your tank(s) rely on the overflow tubes to allow air into the the tank to replace the used water, you will need to accommodate that by opening them after you use a bit of water. On my system, there is a separate vent line that runs up to the fill port, so I could just leave them connected. I do separate them back to normal though, so I don't forget and accidentally overfill the tanks the next trip.
