Moving our oldest to the Portland area this summer for school. Looking for a place to camp for a week (pet friendly) while we get her settled. And then heading to OR coast for a few days before we head home. Suggestions?

We like the state park type of camping. Not too far from Portland check out Ft Stevens, Cape Lookout (our favorite), Beverly Beach.

A real convenient one for you will be Jantzen Beach RV Resort, it's just over the bridge from Portland proper. Just off the I-5 and the Good Sam rating is 9.5/10/9.5 . Close for everything you need to get her settled in and worry free, I kid you not.

We have family in the Portland area, sorry they don't camp, ( Not sure whats wrong with them ):eek:;) any way very nice area ...Good luck :campfire:

We stayed at Ainsworth State park a couple of summers ago. It's about 30 miles east of Portland. It's a nice campground, we had full hook-ups but they don't have cable or wifi. Have fun! :D

I haven't stayed in any of the private RV parks in the area, but the Good Sam site is a good place to start as there are several RV parks in the area. I prefer the Oregon State Parks and there are a couple near Portland. My favorites are Champoeg S.P. near Wilsonville Oregon, south of Portland and LL Stub Stewart S.P. near Banks Oregon, west of Portland. The sites at Stub Stewart are huge and most have full hook ups. Champoeg sites are smaller and only a very limited number are full hook up, most are water/electricity only. Both have dump stations.

Another vote for Champoeg SP. Easier in/out of Portland than Stub Stewart SP in my opinion. Popular place, so make a res when you have your dates. "B" loop newest and a little more open. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks everyone! We're going to use Jantzen while in town then hop to Stubbs and then Ft Stevens. Can't wait this sounds like an awesome trip!

Our daughter lives in Portland and we stay at Jantzen Beach. Make sure you ask for a site that doesn't back up to the road. Noisy!
