Power awning in rain

Hi Bob, the fist thing I did was put lubricant on it to make it slide better. It did not make much of a difference. The directions actually have a diagram showing which way put force on part of the lower arm to make it easier to operate. I suspect the the part that is attached to the trailer is not far enough apart, making the arm that slides bind. The other arm works fine and adjust easily. I,ll have them fix it under warranty and go from there.

It's my understanding after just buying our 2012 19H that the 2013's are made by A and E, not Carefree and are no longer adjustable pitch, glad we got the pitched one and was hard but now works better after just 1 trip of use.

Awnings are not made for rain. I talked with the Manufactured They will not, Warranty anything? That happens when the awning is in the rain. That comes from carefree themselves. The only thing the awning is to be used for is shade. I had mine snap off at the frist hing point in a lite rain.

I have a Carefree electric with no adjustments. It's on a 5'er so it has enough pitch to drain and also has gas shocks that allow it to dump if water is trapped.

I have used it extensively since new in 2011 and never had any problems with it. Just clean the guides and lube with silicone spray. It is often strapped down and also has a screen attachment that helps hold it in place. Just replaced the fabric a few years back.

If not secured, we bring it in half way at night or all the way in if we are gone out. It has survived some high winds many times.

Maybe we are just lucky!
