Power inverter question

The manual was not very clear. I thought that if I turn on the inverter then I have some power right from the coach battery if not on shore power or generator.

All I need is power for the laptop. Hate to run the generator just for the laptop. I get no power to outlets unless I am on shore or generator power.

Had a thought that maybe only some of the outlets work on that but havent experimented that much yet.

Keith,

The inverter likely only powers the outlet behind the TV. Inverters are usually sized to only handle smaller loads and could easily be overloaded if they powered up entire circuits.

Thanks

Thanks Mike,

That does make sense but isnt that the same outlet that is disabled when you are driving down the road so you can't use the TV?

Happy Thanksgiving

Yes, that is the one and only plug it runs... so to run the TV going down the road I have to run an extention cord to the plug over the dining table and run the generator. Seems a little unnecessary to me.....:lightning:

We have a 2010 FS. If you don't want to cut the wire. Pull the outlet out of the box that the TV plugs into. It isn't very hard to figure out what wires you need to disconect. About a 5 min task.

Great responses. Going to have to check these things out this weekend.

Not going to run the genny just to power a laptop so thinking of buying another power inventer that plugs into the cigarette lighter source in the cab. A small cord will allow the laptop to keep power.

Seems to silly to spend so much money on the inverter but not not be allowed to use it going down the road.

You can also pull the fuse that controls the "kill switch" for the TV to work while driving down road. The fuse on our 08 Sececa is located behind the kick plate on the driver side. When you open the driver side door, look to the left of your emergency brake lever. Ours had 1 screw to take off in order to remove the kick plate and you will see a blue wire with a fuse on it. Pull that 5 or 10amp fuse.
