How do I get my step to retract after closing and locking my front door?

I know it does when I first start the Motor Home, I want if in when I walk away.

Just remember you had it on when you go back into the coach. You could walk back out too fast and the step may not come out as fast as you do.

I know about the power step button on the dash and its works great for the exit of the MH. My concern is prior to exiting the coach do I turn off the power step control and then the steps go back in. I really don't want some one to come by and bang into the steps.

We always leave the power step switched off when were set up at the camp site...
For one thing it saves wear and tear on the mechanism, and I found out the hard way that I can step out of the coach faster than the step comes out. Sigh... thank goodness for the grab bar on the side of the door frame.

Yeah; It's a very uneasy felling the first time you step out and those stairs aren't quite in place yet...

There is a switch near the entry door that should enable you to have the step go in after you shut the door.

Our switch obviously doesn't work then. If the battery power switch is on, the steps button does nothing in either position, the steps stay out. The steps only retract if I turn the engine on, or if I turn the battery switch off. (it's probably called something else, but it's the switch by the stairs on the bottom.)

The power step switch on the Precept 29UM is located in the control panel with the inverter, slide controls, holding tank level indicators, and generator controls. It is next to the awning light switch, too. The battery power switch, on the other hand, is located by the stairwell.

IN the 31UL, both the battery switch and the power step switch are in the stairwell. Wonder why all the differences between the 3 models.
