So we are "camping" in our driveway for prior to our first real trip. We are running on generator power only to try to figure things out. The front seems to not cool very well. It cools but seems like the AC runs continuously and still seems a bit warm. Local temps are around mid 90's and we have the front shade closed. It is obviously blowing cold air but not sure if it's to the proper degree. Anyway, before I add this to the punch list, I wondered if this is common or a unique experience.

If the air temp coming out is 15-20 degrees colder than the interior temp the ac is working properly.

My 35UN required some adjustments to the vents. I found that opening both the "dumps" on front unit was a good start. I then closed all vents in bedroom except one in rear most position. Play with all other vents as far as direction they blow until the coach cools evenly.


I can turn both A/Cs on now and watch both thermostats drop evenly until each unit will shut off almost same time. I notice each unit will run more depending on which end of coach sun is hitting. I think I have this working pretty well but I had to force the rear air to front of coach to get best results.

A 15k unit on the front with a 13.5 on the bedroom would have been the way to go. Not an option...yet

I live up in the Northeast and never had an issue with using a single A/C unit in a RV until last week. We traveled to Tennessee for two weeks with temps in the high 90's. During the day the 15k A/C struggled to keep the trailer cool. I was getting the 20 degree differential, but with the humidity and sun it was tough. The biggest mistake I made when ordering my new Eagle was not getting two A/C units.

AugerN............CONGRATULATIONS on your Precept and welcome to the forums.
We presently are in Hot Springs AR. The outside temps have been running in the low to mid 90s for a high with heat index in the low 100s. We have the front curtain closed & close both blinds on the side of the coach that has direct sun light to reduce the heat. With temps like this, our front AC runs pretty much non-stop until the sun goes down. We have the thermostat set 76. The bedroom AC supplements the front like mowdoc said so adjusting the vents and closing unnecessary vents makes a difference.
Also, we run 2 12" 3 speed box fans for air circulation. Works great

D&MAKAFUN thanks for the info. BTW where did you stay in Hot Springs? We are thinking about stopping there on the way back from our New Orleans trip this weekend. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Catherines Landing RV resort on Lake Catherine. Very nice place and accommodating.
If you do stop here, be sure to route yourself to exit US 270 at exit 7, (NOT EXIT 9) onto Carpenter Dam Rd. AR128, south to Shady Grove Road (left about 1 1/2 miles) to the drive into Catherine's Landing on your right.
We let GPS take us on the "shortest" route....not the best route.
Best get reservations ahead because this is one busy place.

Is that park wooded like the state parks are in that area? One of the picture looked like the majority of the park is in the open with few trees.

Yep, no trees except around the outer edge by the lake, cabins and yurts.
