Proper RV pole barn anchors

Look at this pic that was on my site plans to anchor my Rv carport to the ground. Carport was certified for 150 MPH wind since I upgraded to 12 gauge. Hurricane Michael ripped the six rear and side anchors out of the ground causing the entire structure to fly away and crumble. Rest of the anchors are in ground but the washers on the bolts bent letting the bolts pull thru anchors.

Here is my question. Looking at site plan for a 22 ft wide carport the anchors should be 48 inches. The ones used were 30 inch. If I read this correctly that would only give 110 mph protection to a 22 ft wide carport and only give 150 mph protection to a 12 ft wide carport. Tell me I am reading this correctly and the company used the wrong tiedowns.

I hope I am. If so me and the company will be talking On Monday. Half the anchors are still in the ground. The 30 inch one I removed from the structure. Gonna take one out of the ground to verify the length.

What does the local Bldg Code say? If they followed FL and local statutes you may be discussing a mute point.

My contract says 150 MPH. The site plan submitted to the city has engineers stamp meeting building codes. Plan shows two anchor lengths 1C 48 inch and 1D 30 inch and refers back to table. Next to table my plans just list 1C. This will be an interesting conversation tomorrow.

This is getting interesting. Called main company and acted dumb telling them I think I got the wrong anchors. They pulled my order and their engineering dept told me 48 inch. So now they know it is gone and waiting on a call back.

In other words the Bldg Dept screwed up too by approving it..

Well the building dept never came out during install. Just like my new roof, guy came out next day and inspected my stilt home roof from the ground.

It's time to pour some concrete piers with anchor bolts. I have seen lots of these screw anchors give up on mobile homes during tornados.

I poured 20 48" deep piers for my 51 ft shed (10 ea. side) probably more then needed. I also did this years ago for a metal bldg. in my back yard. After a bad storm every thing was gone but the bottom frame rails still bolted down. Funny thing about it I purchased the bldg. from my insurance agent who then had to cover it after it blew away.

Not going thru the trouble. Tornado does not matter. Like u said bottom rails there all else gone. Now the same is built for 150 or 180 depending 14 or 12 gauge. So I will go 180 with 4 ft anchors, Mobile home way heavier on anchors. If it goes than probably house and entire neighborhood. Mine left since 110 tie downs were used and six per side which also is not right. The sucky part is this took out two of my fences, all my stored stuff, punched holes thru my house, ripped up stairs and let all the water in my house.
