Put a second roof vent in my travel trailer.

I have a 2015 Jayco 33RLDS travel Trailer. I would like to put in a second roof vent. Is there a standard place in the roof where I could put the vent so i won't cut through wires or cut the ac duct, or do any other damage. Looking forward to hearing from you. Tks in Advance.

Luckily a standard roof vent is 14" by 14".
So you have plenty of room to knock a hole into your ceiling and look for roof rafters. Once you have a peep hole, look for wires and duct work.
I'm sure the factory did not "frame in" a hidden vent. You will have to cut a rafter and frame out between two adjacent rafters for your new vent.
This is not brain surgery, but you need to bring A LOT of common sense with you to this job.

Every trailer is different enough that this will be a custom job.

I'm adding a second AC in my bedroom. Wired and framed for it but no vent to go by. Used a stud finder to map ceiling out and found the framed opening very quickly

Hot sure about your model, but 28DSBH has a hidden framing for second vent. I emailed Jayco and they provided the diagram with the location of the framing.

If you don't have the 2nd AC in the bedroom option, there should be a pre-framed area in the ceiling and possibly AC power nearby (although you need DC power for a vent). As bono says, contact Jayco with your VIN and they should be able to send you a roof framing diagram that will show exactly where to cut.


If you are cutting through blindly, pay attention to where AC ducting and wiring is likely to have been run through the roof space. You don't want to cut anything up there.
