Anyone ever built one using PVC and tarp? I've priced it out and it's way cheaper than getting a Shelter Logic carport. Aesthetics aren't important; this thing's at a hunting club.

I used this site to measure pieces.

Planned to anchor the legs in 5 gallon buckets with Quickcrete and solvent weld the PVC pieces together. Get a good quality, heavy duty tarp.
I know it's not the greatest and most durable option, but cheap and should last a few years unless a huge wind storm comes. We don't get snow here...

Man I'm from Charleston and you are gonna give us rednecks a bad name!

Just kidding of course. My main concern would be where it ends up after a 50+ mph windstorm.

You can make everything cheap but think about nature's forces. A good solid shelter will stand a heavy wind force, but tornado's or hurricane's will take them up in the air.
A heavy tarp (or 2) will work as long you built a light removable frame on the roof with protected feet to not damage the roof material. This way you can let air through. Use nylon twine and bungees to have some flex. And on the roof install pool noodles lengthwise with the RV to protect the tarp and RV.

I have a metal cover over mine. I would not waste my money on the tarp you are showing. It will not last but a season in the hot sun here.

Just my opinion.

I know of some who have done this very thing to cover there boats. I think they used 2" pvc with weighted buckets at the bottom of the supports. The cheap tarps tear up quickly so plan on a new one once or twice per year. Quality tarps are a bit more money but last longer. None will last years so tarp replacement will be required maintenance.

There are plan available to make shelters out of galvanized top rail that is utilized to make chainlink fences.
