We are considering buying the Touring and are first time caravan purchasing. Our Kia Sorrento diesel will not tow more than 2000 so that rules out the Outback.

So the question is, just what is the advice as to what a Touring, with its standard suspension cope with?

We would not consider bad corrugated roads, or those with nasty potholes, the Kia would not appreciate that anyway. But I assume dirt roads that are graded every now and then would be fine.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Not sure how much info you will get here since the AU units are much different than the US rigs. Hopefully one of your neighbors is reading JOF and will jump in and....

Went out west Qld with friends who were towing an older 16' Jayco freedom (std touring with leaf springs), and it handled 350km of dust/dirt/gravel/rock between Winton and Jundah fine. Stabiliser legs touched down in some of the rougher free camp areas while maneuvering but no damage.
Key thing is to slow down a bit, we did 60-80kph depending on the surface, and didn't bother dropping tyre pressures. You will end up with a little bit of dust, but that is common with most vans.
They were towing with a diesel Hyundai ix35.
