We just purchased a 2018 Jeep Sahara (4300lbs) to tow behind the 2016 Precept. We were towing a 2013 Honda CRV (3400lbs) with a Brake Buddy set up and blue OX tow bar. A couple questions, can I use the same 5000 lb blue ox tow bar with a new jeep blue ox base plate and what is the recommended break system to use. Although I paid $1100 for the brake Buddy system for the Honda, I am concerned with the heavier vehicle I am looking to find a better breaking system. Curious to see if anyone uses the Brake Buddy towing a jeep as well and if you had any issues. Thanks Steve , Wish I would have found this forum 3 years ago, we have had many issues with the 2016 Jayco Precept. Thanks again

We towed a Rubi for awhile with 31ul. The tow bar and baseplate should be ok. I'm using the blue ox Patriot but there are others that work well.

I also have a 2016 Precept, 35US. We towed a Jeep Wrangler for the first two years, one a 07 2 door and then an 07 4 door.

I switched to a 2014 CRV at about the 2 year mark and used the same BlueOX towbar and different baseplate. Aux braking is the RVI2 system.

I have different components because I found them pre-owned on Craigslist significantly cheaper than buying new and they have worked well for me. I also thought the Brake Buddy was overly large as compared to other devices on the market and the RVI2turned out to be a good choice.

Yes, I miss my Jeep. The CRV does everything well and gets good milage but I miss going topless/doorless.

We are towing a Wrangler (4200 curb weight), and decided to go with the Blue Ox Patriot 3.
