Anybody have experience with airbag helper springs ? Minimum pressures / Maximum pressures
Thanks :help:

It might be easier to get help if others know what type and year of unit you are asking about. Otherwise we are just guessing!

I have the Firestone ride rite 2525's on my 2014 F150. I run 35 lbs pressure in the bags. I've also added Michelin Defender E rated tires and a WDH. The truck tows well and much better than stock.

I had Loadlifter bags in a previous truck and ran them at about 50 PSI when towing, 5 PSI empty. IIRC the max pressure was 100 PSI

No real MH experience answers coming in.

I have heard of it being added to MH, and to me would make sense to have them. I put Firestone's in my TV, this spring. The instruction book mentioned a few different ways to plumb them. For my TV I used a Tee and have both air bags use one fill port and self balance. However, the instructions and I have heard of people, run each bag independently and run different PSI in each bag to balance/level the load. As you may have noticed sometimes one side will sag a bit more, I think due to the large main slide side especially if there is a residential frig in it. So don't think you have to run equal pressure on both sides.

I had no reference to what pressure for you to start off at. In my case I took a couple measurements. I started with what I thought was too hi of pressure of 40 psi, and each trip I changed pressures around to I found something that seams comfortable. For me in my TV 20-25 seams nice, with the TT attached and I run 5-10 without any payload.

Good Luck

Best of Luck

Try looking over on the Forest River Owners Forums, their motorhomes come with rear air bags. They will defiantly have a lot more info over there. And its the same Ford frame so brand doesn't matter.

Thanks everybody, this is a 31 Melbourne on an E450 , it has hellwig helper springs and firestone airbags from the factory . The rear end seems pretty stiff but this is with empty tanks and minimum load .
I had no info on what to run the airbags .
Thanks Eddy

My firestone bags say never too run with less than 5 psi. So, try a range of psi. Record the pai, and conditions.

I'm surprised that they put both helper springs and air bags. That seems like overkill.

I've got a set of Helwig airbags on my '07 Chevy half ton truck. When the truck is empty, the bags are empty. If I pull a trailer, I use a bicycle pump to air up the bags to get the back of the truck to normal ride height. I use a yard stick to measure the ride height (ground to quarter panel), and it usually takes about 15 strokes from the bicycle pump to get it there. I never measure the pressure.
