I use DAP 100% silicone. Doesn't shrink. Use acetone to wipe the surface it will adhere to first. Tape both edges to make a nice clean bead or smooth with finger in one direction. Make sure surface is dry before applying. Only downside is road grime will turn it gray as it is a bit sticky but I use a Huggie to clean it off. A Huggie worked when nothing else would and I tried EVERYTHING. It is worth it to not have to caulk but every two to three years and that was in a motorhome that was driven nearly everyday and in the Oregon rain of 8 months of the year.

Never use silicone on your camper! In the future if any caulking repairs are required, nothing will stick to the existing silicone or to what the silicone was adhered to.

I recommend OSI Quad, you can get it at any DYI home repair store. Stuff is a bit messy to use. Tape the area you do not want it on. Apply a very small amount. With a super soapy water finger and smooth. You can add more OSI Quad as you work it.

Been using it for 40 years with out a problem. To each his own.

X2 on Geocel RV Proflex, which is what Jayco told me they use on the exterior. But OSI Quad is great, too. No silicone if you ever want to recaulk. It is murder to remove completely. I used clear Geocel on the front siding seams and around lights and windows and it’s still holding up.

X4 on Geocel. Never use silicone, ask me how I know......have had to repair many a trailer for folks that used silicone.
