As our long time members know, we have had problems in the past with spammers gaining access to the forum and causing issues. We have implemented a few changes on the forum and hopefully you have noticed the SPAM has decreased to near zero.
If you are a new member and have issues, please read below:
- All new registrations are checked against the stopforumspam.com database. This is collaborative site for forum owners to identify and stop spammers. We check both your IP address and username from the database. On a rare occasion, a spammer may have used the same IP address or username as you are currently trying to register with. This will cause a block on your registration and you will not be allowed in. If this happens, simply use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page and tell us you are in fact a real person.
- Your first few posts to this site are checked against a list of known keywords and spam topics, as well as checked for excessive web links. There is a chance your post will be placed in "moderation" which means a moderator will need to review before other users can see it. This should happen within 24 hours. If it does not, again feel free to hit the "Contact Us" button or PM one of the moderators.
Unfortunately spammers are very smart and develop tactics around these measures all the time. We have implemented what we believe is a good balance to keep most spammers out. If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact me or one of the moderators directly.
