What is the benefit of having a detachable power cord such as this over the one that comes with the trailer? Just curious as I'm pretty new and still learning about all of this. Thanks!
I've never had an issue with the cord knotting up inside the TT, but it is a bit stiffer to pull out in colder conditions...
However, I have a neighbor who had a detachable cord setup... he had the cord stolen from his driveway parked TT 3 times in 2 years.... those extension cables are worth a lot and they are easy steals....

I want to do that so I can put my surge guard attached to the trailer and not the power pedestal.
Most of the detachable cords I am familiar with have a twist lock connection to the TT and actual connection is recessed into the socket. The portable SurgeGuard EMS I have isn't twist locked and I wouldn't think that the female end on the EMS will reach the connection point. I am not certain that you would be able to mate the detachable shore power inlet on the TT to your SurgeGuard.
